Art of Brilliance

Over 150 children came together at Wychwood Park Hotel in Weston, Crewe on Friday 20th May to celebrate their positivity, resilience and wider community work at a festival filled with fun and frolics.

Children from Chancery Multi Academy Trust spent 6 months planning this special event with pupils from St Lawrence CE in Colchester and Christchurch Charnock Richard CE in Lancashire. Teachers and children had each worked previously with Will Hussey – educator, writer and advocate of a growth mindset, and he helped form the virtual connection, back in 2021, that resulted in the world’s first BRILL KIDS FEST, a day full of face to face workshops, marketplace sharing and team building sporting activities.

Pupils from across the schools helped to shape the day, determined that the festival should include lanyards to wear, meet and greet events, market place sharing and a say in the lunch menu offering! Having never met in person before, pupils set themselves the challenge of writing the word BRILL on the grass outside using only their bodies, as a mark of their ability to work together. This they achieved, in one take, before stepping on to the conference hall stage to an afternoon filled with music, acting and presentational speeches.

Will Hussey drew the conference to a close before the start of a long journey home and set the planning wheels in motion for the next exciting BRILL KIDS FEST.
